For the Norwegian robin, the 400 mile journey from Scandinavia to Britain is a
grueling 15-hour journey. Consequently, only 30 birds have been known to have
successfully traversed the waters of the North Sea in the past 85 years.
One of those 30 birds made that sojourn this week. One lucky birdwatcher was
fortunate enough to witness the end of its travel. She and her small cat watched
from her garden as the weary robin made its descent to Britain to
rest from its journey.
Then, in a devilishly ironic twist, the birdwatcher watched in horror as her pet
feline devoured the exhausted robin. The birdwatcher documented the significant
event and wrote to a bird charity, reluctantly admitting that her pet had just
ruined this ornithological wonder.
Ryan's Opinion: Ah ha ha ha ha ha! That sure came out of left field. I
can only imagine her reaction. She dedicates her life (or free time, anyway)
to birds and her fluffy kitty totally owns this robin. I'm reminded of a Family
Guy quote: "I'm Dr. Goodman of the Quahog Ornithological Society, ironically
dining at a restaurant that exclusively serves poetry." Next time she'll think
twice before having two contradicting intrests.
